London Calling

Photobucket
This past Sunday, the NFL invaded the UK by scheduling a game in England. The match-up wasn't the most competitive of games as the New England Patriots & Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off in a one sided battle. New England went on to win the game by a score of 35 to 7. I love the idea of expanding the NFL to Europe and England more specifically, but why pick one of the most lopsided match-ups possible? Although the game sold out in a matter of minutes as 84,254 fans watched the Patriots put a shellacking on the Buccaneers at Wembley field, I find it funny considering the Buccaneers are having a hard time this season filling up their own stadium, let alone winning. But at the same time, the game was a 'Home game' for the Bucs so maybe playing in the UK was their only chance of having a sell out.

Either way, hopefully the NFL schedule makers will set up a more competitive game next time around. I think a rivalry game between the Cowboys-Giants or Packers-Vikings would be most suitable. Then again commissioner Roger Goddell always seems to see things ass backwards.
