Throwback Thursday x The Bash Brothers

The man who was at the pinnacle of the baseball world at one point and time of his career is now at the bottom of the barrel. In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we take a look back at the careers of two of the most recent targets of controversy -- Mark McGwire & Jose Canseco. Nicknamed Big Mac, McGwire began his career with the Oakland Athletics where he became an instant fan favorite and went on to be named Rookie of the Year during his rookie season in 1987.

Alongside former teammate and newly found enemy Jose Canseco who also won the Rookie of the Year Award the year before in 1986, the two helped form a powerhouse offense that was dangerous in almost every aspect of the game. During their quest of becoming World Series Champions in 1989, the two were dubbed the nickname "The Bash Brothers." Although the two are no longer friends with the steroid scandal getting the better half of each player, the duo was one of the most deadliest in not only their era but in all of baseball. Even though steroids might of helped create one of the best tag-teams in baseball history, it's almost certain that no man wanted to face the two during their prime.
