Lakers sign Odom

The question I've been asking in my past blog posts, will no longer have to be asked. As the Los Angeles Lakers have signed Forward Lamar Odom to a multi-year contract. The figures of the contract were not yet released however, but it's clear the Lakers will look a lot like the 2009 Laker squad that brought home the gold this past season. With the exception of Trevor Ariza and the addition of Ron Artest. Odom played a huge role for the team all season long coming off of the bench and starting for the injured Andrew Bynum when he needed to. I'm more than glad to see he'll be back on the court for another tenure with the defending World Champs.

In helping the Lakers to the 2008-09 title, Odom averaged 12.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.35 blocks in the postseason. He also had a team-leading 51.4 percent three-point stroke that helped a bit, to say the least.

In other Laker news, Pau Gasol underwent surgery earlier this week in Spain to repair a torn volar plate on the index finger of his left hand. Gasol will be wearing a splint for three weeks, when the Spanish National Team hopes that he can return to play for his country in the European Championships. The Lakers expect to have an update on Gasol’s progress and return status in approximately three weeks.
