The Kid's Back!

As you all know, Ken Griffey Jr. is back with the Mariners in what may be his last season. And what better place to end his career than the city where it all started. The Kid put the Emerald city on the map becoming an instant fan favorite, while also playing a few seasons with his father (Ken Griffey Sr.). The 2 became an instant hit playing together, and many have the father-son duo on the top of their list when it comes to who may be the greatest related duo of all-time to play on the same team. Not to mention he's got the sweetest swing in all of Baseball, hands down.

Griffey is one of my favorite players, and there's no doubt he would be up there in the chase for the All-Time Home run record if it wasn't for the ongoing injury plagued seasons he's had. However he's still one of the All-time Greatest player to ever play the game. Griffey's shoes were also a hit back in the 90's when the kid found instant fame. When he signed a deal with Nike, The Kid teamed up with Basketball All-Star Penny Hardaway in commercials together to promote their shoes. Griffey's shoe took on the more bulky look as shown in the picture below.

In honor of Griffey's on and off the field success, Nike decided to Retro his shoe (The Nike Air Griffey Max). Coincidentally the release came shortly after his return to Seattle. I've actually wanted the shoes for quite awhile and almost shat myself when I heard they were going to re-release. It took me almost a month and a half to get them, after going from store to store to later find out they ran out of my size. But I'm more than happy I was able to get my hands on them. They have that retro look to them, and they're extremely comfortable. Plus I've already got the hat to match. If you've considered getting them, they defiantly won't disappoint.

& Be sure to stay tuned for the 2nd pair that's scheduled to drop sometime in mid May-June. I know I'll be waiting...

Kobe 4 President!

Photobucket

Either you hate Kobe Bryant, or you love him. Either you're a Laker fan, or you despise them. Luckily I love both Kobe and the Lakers. With that being said, the Lakers surged passed the Jazz Monday night with a 107-96 victory over Utah. With the win, the Lakers took the series 4-games to 1-game, & advance to the 2nd round of the NBA Playoffs. The winner of the Houston-Portland series will determine who faces L.A. in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.

Since I've been following the Lakers ever since I could remember, Derek Fisher is another one of my favorite Lakers. He's the lone Laker alongside Kobe that's been with the team since the 3-peat which spanned from 2000-2002. But it seems like I'm not the only one who digs the Fish. Fisher's had an ongoing problem with a female stalker that has been following and harassing him since 2001. The situation has gotten so bad that Fisher's been forced to file a temporary restraining order against the woman. If you ask me, I'd say she wants "THA DICK!" For the rest of the story click here.

I'M GOING GOING, BACK BACK, TO CALI CALI

As you all know, Vegas is known for its lights, entertainment, casinos, and it's heat. I for one am not a big fan of the warm temperatures LV has to offer. Just this week, the temperature peaked to 96F degrees, and we're still in April. So what better to do, than go out to the beautiful state of California and chill on the beach for a few days?

A few friends and I are taking a road trip and plan on doing the following; Hit up Venice Beach, take a walk on the Santa Monica pier, walk down Hollywood, eat at Roscoe's famous Chicken & Waffles, attend an Angels game, pound a few cold ones, and of coarse grub on some of the best Burritos Cali has to offer. Last June we went on a road trip to Cali and my friend Sergio introduced me to the greatest creation (food wise) called the "California Burrito." For those of you who've been lost like I was until I was informed of this deliciousness, this burrito is like your average Carne asada burrito, but with french fries in it. Add a little salt, some guacamole and a pinch of lemon and you have yourself a masterpiece. They may range from somewhere between $5-$7 dollars, but they're well worth it. Not to mention you might not be able to eat the whole thing in one sitting and may have some leftover for a late night snack.

Photobucket

Ahh my mouth is watering just thinking about it. :) Be sure to get your hands on one next time you hit up your nearest Roberto's taco shop, or any other taco vendor. I've gone to learn the best Mexican food seems to be from the tiny hole in the wall "joto hut's", as my dad likes to call them. But trust me, you won't be dissapointed. & While we're on the subject, I just wanna give a shout-out to my boy Sergio. Whats good lokie!?

HE'S BACK!

Just when you were sitting around on youtube watching old music videos, you came across Eminem and wondered where he's been for the past 5 years. Look no further, He's Back! That's right, Em's been working on his latest album entitled "Relapse", which is set to drop on May 15, 2009. The album will be Eminem's first studio album since Encore in 2004. You might have heard the song "Crack a bottle" Featuring 50 cent and Dr. Dre, but no official Music video was released. And we all know Em's music videos are just as good as his songs. In his videos, Eminem's known for poking fun at well known celebrities and teen icons. And in this video there's a large selection of both. Some notables I was able to find were Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, Sara Palin, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Amy Winehouse, and Rock of Love's very own Brett Michales. Check it out!

The video has already caused an uproar in the media and many have said the mocking of Sara Palin went a little too far. For the rest of the story Click Here

Rest In Paradise

Photobucket

After what's been an emotional first week of Baseball due to the Adenhart tragedy, more sorrow was felt throughout the Baseball world this weekend. This time with the death of 2 of Baseball's most interesting and one of a kind characters. Harry Kalas was most famous for calling Phillies games for 39 long years, and was also known as "The Voice of Philadelphia." On April 13, 2009, prior to the Washington Nationals' home opener against the Phillies, Kalas collapsed in the press box, and was discovered around 12:30 PM. Doctors later confirmed that Kalas suffered a massive heart attack due to heart disease. Many said he went out the best way he could, at the ballpark. After the devastating news was heard throughout the rest of Philly, one broadcaster went on to say, "Philadelphia has lost its voice." Kalas was 73 years old.

Also to leave us was former Detroit Tiger Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. Fidrych was found dead on April 13, 2009, according to the Worcester District Attorney's office. The D.A.'s office said Fidrych was found by a family friend beneath his 10 Wheeler dump truck at his Northborough home around 2:30 p.m. He appeared to have been working on the truck at the time of the accident. Fidrych (A 2-Time All-Star & Former Rookie of the Year) was a fan favorite and better known on the Baseball Diamond for his weird on the field antics. He would do such oddity's as crouch down on the pitcher's mound and fix cleat marks, what became known as "manicuring the mound", and would talk to the ball. He was given the nickname "The Bird" due to his resemblance of The Sesame Street character "Big Bird." No pitcher showed the type of emotion Fidrych had while playing the game. Fidrych was only 54 years old.

Angel in the Outfield

Photobucket

A sad day for Baseball, as Angels rookie right-hander Nick Adenhart died early Thursday morning after a hit-and-run car accident in Fullerton, California. Just hours after what many have said was his biggest outing in a Baseball uniform [Throwing 6-shut out innings against The Oakland A's]. Nick and 3 others were heading to a dance club, when their car was struck at an intersection by a speeding minivan that had ran a red light. Three of the 4 passengers were killed, including Nick. One of the victims is hospitalized and is said to be in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the minivan fled the scene on foot and was captured about 30 minutes later. Police identified him as Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, of Riverside, and said he had a suspended license because of a previous drunken driving conviction. Other Preliminary results indicated Gallo's blood-alcohol level was "substantially over the legal limit" of .08 percent, police Lt. Kevin Hamilton said. Gallo now faces the following charges: 3 counts of Murder, DUI, Hit & Run, and 3 counts of Manslaughter. If convicted, Gallo could serve 50-years to Life in prison.

In honor of Adenhart's death, Thursday's game against Oakland was cancelled. However, the Angels resumed play on Friday night against the Boston Red-Sox. The team held for a moment of silence in Adenhart's memory and payed tribute with a Picture of Nick in Center-field and the #34 [Adenhart's number] engraved behind the pitchers mound. The team also wore the #34 on their jersey's. The Angels went on to win the game 6-3 and dedicated the victory to Adenhart.

My prayers go out to the Families and Friends of Adenhart along with the rest of those who were lost in this horrible tragedy.

The Big Shaqtus to Dallas?

Photobucket

Rumors are roaming the air, as talks between Shaquille O'neil and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban have begun. Rumors are said to involve a possible trade that could send the Big Shaqtus himself to the Mavs as early as the end of the season. For the rest of the story, Click Here.

The Suns organization felt that Shaq could be the final piece of the puzzle that could possibly lead the team to the promise-land. However it was no surprise that Shaq slowed down what may have been the quickest team in all of the NBA after the Blockbuster deal that sent former Suns Marcus Banks, and 4-Time All-Star Shawn Marion to the Miami Heat in exchange for O'neil. Many questioned the move, and the team hasn't been the same since. Steve Nash has had ongoing problems with injuries, and Phoenix has even tried to counter with adding former All-Star and Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson into the mix. All of which have developed into a disappointing season.

I guess it's safe to say the Highlight of Phoenix's season has been the All-Star game which included The Big Diesel dancing with the masked Champions of ABDC's 1st season The Jabawockeez.

Shaquille also took home MVP Honors with former Laker teammate Kobe Bryant.

Peanuts!, Get'churrr Peanuts!

baseball field Pictures, Images and Photos

Already 2 games into the season (3 for some teams), and the feel good vibe of Baseball is in the air once again. With that being said, grab yourself some peanuts (I prefer sun-flower seeds), & a cold one and enjoy the game!

What are my Predictions you ask?

AL East: Red Sox
AL Central: White Sox
AL West: Angels
AL Wild Card: Rays

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Giants (I'm being Optimistic!)
NL Wild Card: Phillies

World Series: Mets over Red Sox in 6 games.
